Description as aboveWhen night falls,we go outdoors to study one of the desert’s fascinating
creatures --- the scorpion. While using special U.V flashlights that turn their bodies radiant,
we will follow scorpions as they look for pray, witnessing their hunting skills; we will learn
how to determine their age and gender, and Perhaps witness their courtship rituals. Most
importantly, we will understand why there is no need to fear these wonderful creatures and
how we can all coexist in the desert. The S’de Boker Field School is the first educational
institute in Midreshet Ben-Gurion in the Negev. Established in the 1960s, the school’s
expertise revolves around desert studies --- especially human correspondence with nature,
ecology, environmentalism and overall knowledge of the beautiful Negev region.
The desert night is known for its clear and darkened skies, with a remarkable canopy of stars
which offers intriguing opportunities for exploration and knowledge. We will watch these
tiny spots, learn about Polaris, and tell the stories and legends behind the different star
constellations. Using telescopes and laser pointers, we will discover parts of our unlimited
universe; and in the desert sky --- who knows... we may even see a falling star. The S’de
